Perineal Massage

Perineal massage is recommended for women beginning the 34th week of pregnancy. Perineum is the lower half of the vaginal opening and is the area that is most commonly injured during delivery and childbirth. By consistently stretching and massaging the perineal tissues prior to childbirth - the need for an episiotomy is reduced and the possibility of a natural tear is decreased. By preventing these injuries, your postnatal recovery will be much easier and quicker.

The focus of this class is to teach you how to give yourself a perineal massage at home. You can certainly have your partner or midwife help out and they are also welcome to join the class. Each session is one-on-one with a women's health specialist and 50 minutes long.
